StanLei

Cello layers, ethereal vocals and lyricism with a gritty edge and hints of UK bass : StanLei (‘stan-lay’) is a singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer based in the French Pyrenees who makes ethereal, conscious pop with diverse influences from UK garage to jazz. After a childhood of cello lessons and a decade soaking in the rich scene of her adopted hometown Bristol, StanLei spent years travelling worldwide as a nomadic seasonal worker and playing acoustic gigs all over before buying the necessary studio gear to launch into learning music production and creating her debut album, AIPOD. The first singles released ahead of the album drew comparisons to Bjork, M.I.A, Kae Tempest and FKA Twigs and praise from several indie music blogs. She has been featured on BBC Introducing and France Bleu Occitanie as well as airplay and interviews on other local and national ratio stations. StanLei’s recent collaborations include deMon, a neo-soul project with producer Nel Gabriel, and a dance single with Marbella-based house producer duo Momo Khani and Meindel, recently re-released on Deepalma Records (2021) after its successful independent release (OC Music, 2020).
